Eimskip Hammers Out Wage Deal, Dodges Strike

first_imgzoom Senior officers aboard Eimskip vessels have postponed their announced strike until mid February having reached a collective agreement with Eimskip on Monday night.The strike has been put on hold to allow for the workers’ unions to vote on the proposed new agreement.Up to 100 workers were threatening to strike having been unable to hash out a wage deal that would increase the officers’ wages after several rounds of negotiations.The workers have been without a contract since last summer, according to local media.The walk-out that was scheduled for midnight would have affected unloading operations of five Eimskip vessels and two Samskip ships.
